When you’re craving some authentic Indian food, nothing else will do. Whether it’s a delicious butter chicken, spicy curry, or flavorful masala, you’re sure to find what you’re searching for in Cleveland. The team at Nissan of Streetsboro has taken the time to put together a list of the top eight Indian restaurants in Cleveland.

Choolaah

Choolaah uses ancient tandoor cooking techniques, combined with a modern commitment to good health and the popularity of Indian cuisine to create an exotically familiar dining experience. Choolaah is located at 2700 Chagrin Blvd. in Beachwood and is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Be sure to check out their Indian street food, beginning with the samosa chaat, a vegetarian option topped with chickpea masala and drizzled with non-GMO yogurt with sweet and tangy spices. You can also get a pav bhaji, an Indian version of a vegetable sloppy Joe served with fresh-baked, lightly-buttered toasted buns.

Bombay Chaat

You’ll find a variety of options from Indian cuisine from all four corners of India at Bombay Chaat, located at 2044 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland. Indian street food options include Sev puri, papdi chaat, samosa, aloo Tikki, and ragda patties. South Indian specials include paper roast dosa, onion chilly uttapam, and idli sambar. Tandoor options include the chicken tikka made with cubes of chicken breast marinated in yogurt and served with a mixture of herbs and spices cooked in a tandoor. Bombay Chaat is open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Indian Delight

For authentic Indian food, visit Indian Delight, located at 5507 Detroit Ave. in Cleveland. They offer lunch and dinner hours every day except Tuesday. Start with their samosa chaat, pakoras, or pani puri to prepare your taste buds for a delicious dining experience. For the lighter appetite, they offer wraps and lunch boxes, including paneer tikka and chilli chicken. Entrees at Indian Delight include shrimp Mirch masala, rogan josh, neelgiri korma, and salmon curry. Be sure to add an order of the tandoori roti bread to your order, a soft plain whole-wheat bread baked in a special Indian-style clay oven.

Himalayan Restaurant

The Himalayan Restaurant serves up tastes from Nepal and India at 13124 Lorain Ave. in Cleveland. They offer lunch and dinner hours Tuesday through Sunday for your dining enjoyment. You can order samosa, paneer pakora, chicken 65, and Himalayan chicken to get you started. From there, they offer vegetarian and nonvegetarian options, including matar paneer, bhindi masala, chicken curry, lamb rogan josh, and tandoori shrimp. The Nepali menu offers fried momo, chatpate, sekuwa, choila, and Samay bhaji. They also have a Himalayan platter for two with Sikh kabaab, tandoori chicken, sekuwa, and shrimp coming to their menu soon.

Cleveland Tiffin-Punjabi Dhaba

Located at 4630 Warrensville Center Road in North Randall is the Cleveland Tiffin-Punjabi Dhaba, serving authentic Indian fare from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. every day except Tuesday and Sunday. They offer kachori and pakora made with vegetables, paneer, chicken, or fish as starters. Vegetarian options include aloo gobi, chana masala, dal tadka, and malai kofta. You can also enjoy chicken curry, butter chicken, and chicken korma. If you prefer fish, order the butter fish or fish curry. Goat options include goat masala and goat saag. Add a roti to complete your meal.

Zupadi

Zupadi can be found at 14741 Pearl Road in nearby Straonsville, where they serve Indian food from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, and offer both lunch and dinner hours on the weekend. Menu items include spring onion bites, cut Mirchi, goat pepper fry, chicken bhuna gosh, and masala papad for appetizers.

Be sure to try their chana batura, a chick peas curry with puffy fried bread, or the chili chicken made with deep-fried chicken tossed with peppers and onions and served with a spicy soy sauce. Zupadi also offers tandoor specials such as the tandoori jhinga, jumbo shrimp marinated in yogurt and lemon juice with spices cooked in a clay oven. With an extensive menu providing vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, you’re sure to find something everyone will enjoy.

Tandul

Tandul is located at 2505 Professor Ave. and serves Indian fare from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 10:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Appetizers include gobi 65, chilly paneer, samosa, and paneer masakali, plus chicken 65, pepper goat, chilly shrimp, and apollo fish. Tandul also serves tandoor such as paneer tikka, chicken tikka, reshmi kabab, tandoor chicken, and Tandul salmon. A few of their entrees are paneer butter masala, subzi mandi, chicken vindaloo, Kadai ghost, and fish curry. They also offer breads such as naan and paratha options.

For dessert, be sure to check out their rasmalai, boiled cottage cheese patties topped with sweetened milk and nuts, or the kulfi, Indian-style ice cream in your choice of coconut, pistachio, mango, or malai.
